Sensei Oberschlake

James Oberschlake is the chief instructor of the Brown County Shotokan Karate Club. He has trained in Shotokan Karate for over twenty-four years. His instructor is Sensei Greer Golden, a sixth degree black belt and one of the first three non-Japanese licensed to teach Japanese Karate as a chief instructor.

Sensei Oberschlake created Brown County Shotokan Karate Club in 1977 when he began teaching in his family's backyard. In August 1979, he and his club members constructed the present dojo at Friendly Meadows Golf Course. Sensei Oberschlake has earned his Fifth Degree Black Belt. He placed fourth in 1996's National Shotokan Tournament in Kumite (sparring).

He has served as the Regional Executive Director and is currently the President of the Mid America Region, and has five times been a member of the ISKF National team.
